Fourth Green Flag - Travel
Awarded May 2010
Green Schools programme is part of an international environmental education programme and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole-school action for the environment.
The school is actively involved in this programme, since 2002, and has achieved our 4 green flags for recycling, water conservation, energy efficiency and travel.
Our Green Team comprising of pupils, parents and teachers have launched a number of schemes to promote greater awareness and participation in travel options that reduce our carbon footprint:-

A new bike shed has been installed funded by An Taisce
A Park and Walk from different locations to the school has been implemented.
Action Day for Cycle/Walk to school from Newtown, followed by workshops in bicycle maintenance, safe cycling and rules of the road.
Participation in the National Walk to School Week
The school is currently in the process of establishing a 'Walking Bus'.
Well done to all involved in this excellent achievement
