Rainbows
Rainbows is a peer support programme for children who are grieving a signifigant loss in their lives – eg. parental death, separation or divorce. The programme consists of 12 weekly meetings, divided into two 6 week parts.
The small support group of children is led by an adult facilitator who has been specially trained and resourced to effect the aims of the Rainbows programme.
Children are helped by the facilitator, in a caring setting, to articulate their feelings. They are assisted and enabled to understand and accept their changed circumstances and learn new coping skills. A number of staff have received facilitator training.
Máire Ní Mhiacháin is the school Rainbows co-ordinator. Please contact Máire if you have any queries about the Rainbows programme.
