Rang III

Irish
We really enjoy Irish. We are very proud of the language and are honoured when we receive the 'Glór na Seactaine' award at assembly. You will often hear us singing Irish songs and speaking 'as Gaeilge'. We love to read and write Irish assignments. We receive a star on the days that we are chosen as the best class for irish speaking in the yard. Shortly, we will be reciting poetry in a recitation competition.

English
We read a lot of novels in Rang III. We have a class library as well as a bookclub. Sometimes we do oral book reviews and other times we write out a review.We also keep a reading log. We have periods of silent reading.Our handwriting is progressing all the time.

Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (S.E.S.E.)

Science
We learn all about predicting and testing. We run a Science morning once a month and we invite other classes to our class. Our internet/projector plays a big part in our Science lessons.

History
Everyone in our class just loves the stories from ancient times.We love to get out of class on a local trail. We like to link our school tour with an historic place. We love our family timelines and learning about how people lived a long time ago.

Geography
We help with recycling and make a constant effort to play our part in helping the environment. We love learning facts about various counties, rivers and mountains.

Visual Art
We work with clay, fabric, fibre and drawing ,construct, paint and crafts. Every month we experience different materials. We love to look at artists' work especially when we can paint them and create our own masterpieces.

Physical Education (P.E.)
We get the opportunity to experience lots of different activities like creative dance, basketball, gaelic football, hurling, yard games and Irish dancing. We have camogie, football and hurling teams.

Music
Some of us are in the school choir. We love singing in between different subject areas. We also learn the tin whistle in the final term of Rang III.We learn a new song every week and we can’t wait to get our hands on the percussion instruments! We are learning the notes on the stave. Also, we are learning all about Irish traditional music and instruments.

Social, Personal and Health Education (S.P.H.E.)
We discuss all the things that we need help with. We like to encourage and compliment each other to instill confidence. We play the feelings game. We realise that it is important to think about other peoples' feelings and we celebrate our similarities and differences.

Drama
We love acting out stories in groups and in pairs working on different elements of drama such as belief, character in role, inner voice, conscience alley and time ….. its great fun!
