Rang IV
Rang IV is a busy year for the pupils of Gaelscoil Chaladh an Treoigh. As well as completing the fourth class curriculum pupils take part in a number of other activities such as Irish dancing, swimming, choir, violin classes, scrabble games. As part of the physical education curriculm, external teachers take fourth class for various activities. These include Irish dancing and swimming.
Swimming
Swimming begins in the second term when the children complete a 6 week course at Bawnmore Swimming Pool.
With Aquatics given a very important emphasis in the P.E. Curriculum we look forward to all children benefiting immensely from this year’s swimming course. The emphasis will be on specific swimming technique and fun! Go n-éirí linn!
Irish Dancing
Dance experts, Daire and Rose Nolan, come to the G.A.A. every Thursday to teach Irish dancing to every child, from Naíonáin Mhóra to Rang IV. The children learn an extensive range of dances, including the one-two-threes. At the end of the school year, we hope to showcase the new dances the pupils have mastered!
Scrabble
Scrabble will be introduced to Rang IV this year. The class will play for one hour per week for one term and we will have a fourth class scrabble tournament at the end of the term. Scrabble helps to develop language skills and mental arithmetic.
I.C.T.
As I.T. plays an important role in all our lives today, we now have computers and broadband installed in each classroom, together with a networked system throughout the school. In Rang IV, an emphasis is place on using the internet to find information. The children ar also learning to touch-type.
